The Belgian artist has a knack with a lone figure, a smartly dressed man in a suit and a hat who carries a briefcase and walks quite silently. He is too cool not to smoke or worry about blood on the job, yet is the consummate family man and team player, despite his aloofness, perceived or otherwise. Do we trust him? Can we afford not to?

Guardians is a new photographic series by Andy Freeberg, who focuses on the women who sit guard over the art in Russian museums. The seated women become as much a part of the viewing as the art above them. The women often become engaged by the pieces, and their role takes on a personal aspect when the art becomes part of their lives.

The late abstract expressionist Hans Hartung dedicated the last three years of his life to producing as many canvases as he could, after being told he was terminally ill. The results are full of energy and drama. The colours range from soft to intense and Hartung used items such as rollers, garden rakes and olive branches, along with spray paint, to create large paintings full of emotion. These works are described as expressing "ideas of infinity and the sublime on the one hand, and existential inner torment on the other," but can be viewed as just plain stirring as well.

Takashi Murakami explains how flowers became crucial elements in his work, "When I was preparing for the entrance exams for the University of Fine Arts, I spent two years drawing flowers. I drew some every day. And the entrance exam in the Nihon-ga section also involved flower drawing. Afterwards, to earn a living, I spent nine years working in a preparatory school, where I taught the students to draw flowers. Once every two days, I would buy flowers for my lesson and make compositions for the students to work on. At the beginning, to be frank, I didn't like flowers, but as I continued teaching in the school, my feelings changed: their smell, their shape - it all made me feel almost physically sick, and at the same time I found them very 'cute'.
