The Saatchi Opus: meet one of the world's biggest art books
You can't judge a book by its cover, but what about its size? Guardian art critic Adrian Searle gets to grips with The History of the Saatchi Gallery – all 35kg of it – to find out whether it's a tome for discerning art lovers or just an oversize paperweight.

Charles Saatchi vorbeste pentru The Times
Charles Saatchi is by his own admission just a little obsessive. As a child, he collected Superman comics — before moving on to nudist magazines. As an advertising executive he used the “method” approach to copywriting — talking to victims of emphysema when working on an anti-smoking campaign (although he has a 50-a-day habit and the iconic purple Silk Cut campaign was also his).
When he moved on to collecting art, he quickly became the godfather of contemporary art, encouraging the Young British Artists such as Damien Hirst and Tracey Emin. He would buy entire graduate shows — but could suddenly sell them a few years later, once describing himself as “just a sad kid who wants to find a new sweetie”.

Reality TV has nothing to offer the art world
Charles Saatchi's new art reality show is a reflection of the low regard we have for genuine talent
spune Jonathan Jones in The Guardian.A new BBC2 series, Saatchi's Best of British, will see him preside over a contemporary art reality show, comparable with Lloyd Webber's I'd Do Anything. Talented hopefuls (I've put that phrase in as blog-fodder ...) will attend his "intensive art school, where they will be tutored by top contemporary artists." The show will "attempt to discover the next Damien Hirst or Tracey Emin." Well, I don't suppose anyone would expect it to discover the next Cy Twombly or Jasper Johns.
