The very nature of Lori Nix's work is fascinating in itself, as Nix has been creating tiny dioramas since the mid-1990s (featured in photographs taken with her large-format camera). Even more intriguing is the atmosphere of doom presented in her latest body of work, a series of urban interiors in a state of uncomfortable decay. The tableaux, which range from a laundromat during the day and at night to a map room with geography askew and a church that harbours old signage, are meticulous depictions of a possibly very eerie future.
