To say that nudity is trending is nothing new. The statement has certainly rung true for the

last 60,000 years, or at least since we began walking upright and admiring each other's progressively less hairy bodies. Appreciation of the naked form plays many roles in art, culture and society, and while photographer Max Snow doesn't strive to dissect this complicated relationship in his show "100 Headless Women", his unique take on portraiture explores how the body can tell a deeper story.

His pieces combine re-imagined elements of nostalgic popular culture with fantastical sci-fi standards and beautiful space-like atmospheres. Lara Knutson

Pushing the limits of light

When The Future Perfect owner David Alhadeff met Lara Knutson five years ago, he described the attraction to her work as "immediate and visceral, like a moth to a flame." Comprised of reflective glass fabrics, the shimmering surfaces have that effect on most, especially when Alhadeff showed them at his Noho store recently during NYC's design week.

In her most recent show, "Boulevard", Grannan spent the last three years roaming the streets of Los Angeles and San Francisco. All of her portraits depict strangers but her knack for composition and sharp eye depict the subjects as at once hyper human to the extent of looking surreal and intimately familiar. The cast of characters she unearths take the viewer on a trip through time, style and culture, ultimately delivering an eerie, unexpected look at people most of us would just pass by.
